Board President
SUSAN BOWMAN
Susan joined Red Tide in 1994 while serving as Creative Director of Publications at Sesame Street, with the rare privilege of being able to walk to work after morning practice. In her early competitive years, she focused on pool events. She later spent 15 years competing in triathlons before shifting her focus to open water swimming. Over nearly three decades with Red Tide, Susan has served on the board twice previously and has built a remarkable community of lasting friendships within the team.

Vice President
MAGGIE MEEHAN
Maggie joined Red Tide in 1990 after brushing up on her swimming skills with Doug Stern’s “Different Strokes for Different Folks” and a freestyle clinic and hasn’t looked back. She can count the years she has been on the team by subtracting 1 from her daughter’s age as she joined when her daughter was a year old. Said daughter will soon by 37. Shortly after joining the team she was elected to the board and subsequently served as the Team Coordinator. Through Red Tide she has participated in numerous swim meets, traveling to regional meets at Harvard and Rutgers and to Nationals in Florida and Indianapolis. Red Tide gave her the world of open water swimming. With amazement she realized that the ocean is only a subway ride away. Her deepest friendships outside her family are with Red Tiders with whom she has gone to open water swims in the Northeast and to Swim Treks abroad. Swimming is living!
